Alternate stays
Airbnbs in Mérida
If you'd rather rent a whole colonial casita — great choice. Here's how to pick one that actually lives up to the photos.
Best neighborhoods
Centro Histórico
The colonial heart. Cobblestone streets, colorful mansions, all the sights within walking distance.
Santa Ana
Northern edge of Centro. Great cafés, chill park, walkable to everything.
Santa Lucía
Buzzy plaza, live music every Thursday, mix of locals and travelers.
García Ginerés
Leafy, mid-century residential. Quieter, with a strong local food scene.
Itzimná
Local, tree-lined, family-friendly. A little further north, more space for less.
Northern Paseo de Montejo
Boulevard mansions and modern high-rises. Best for pool/gym amenities.
Altabrisa
Modern, upscale district in the north with malls, hospitals, and newer condos. Quiet, safe, and convenient if you have a car — a bit further from Centro but closer to the venue.
What to look for
- Powerful A/C in every room (not just one)
- Pool, or shaded outdoor space
- Superhost or clearly verified reviews
- Walkable to at least one café / market
- 24-hour security or gated entry
- Estimated drive time to the venue (~30 min)
- Off-street or guarded parking if you're renting a car
- Clear photos of every room, not just the pretty ones
Book early
December is peak season in the Yucatán. Book at least 4–6 months in advance — earlier for larger houses or groups.
