Bring a passport valid at least 6 months past your travel date. You'll receive an FMM tourist entry electronically or on paper — keep it, you'll need it to leave.
Mexican pesos. Cards work at most restaurants and hotels; you'll want cash for markets, small taxis, and tips. ATMs at HSBC, Santander, and BBVA branches are the safest choices.
10–15% at restaurants (check the bill; sometimes included). 20–50 pesos for a taxi driver's help with bags, 20–30 pesos for hotel housekeeping per day.
Airalo, Holafly, and Nomad all work well. 5–10 GB will get most travelers through a week. AT&T Mexico has strong local coverage if you buy a physical SIM.
Mexico uses US-style Type A/B plugs at 127V/60Hz. Your US and Canadian chargers work directly. UK/EU visitors need an adapter.
